I've been out-of-touch as I've been sucking in anime fansubs for the past week or so. It's really messing with my laptop, which hasn't been turned off for over a week. I purchased a terabyte external hard drive today to start storing all this. This will make external hard drive three...
I've been downloading and watching:
Rosario+Vampire - the anime club was watching this one and it's pure fumbling high school boy and white panties up-skirt shots and big boobed girls crack. It's cute and loaded with those 'speciality' tropes I need to collect for my tropes lecture. It's amusing so I'm 'forcing' rat to watch it with me.
Kyou Kaou Maou season three - no, I haven't seen much of the beginning but I've been watching this anyway. Pretty bishies, better than average storyline, and I've ordered the first and second parts *cough Hong Kong* on eBay so we can finally watch it from the beginning. We caught some eps on one of the Asian channels a few months ago and enjoyed it. So now we're waiting for the dvds to arrive.
Nabari no Ou - one cookie listed so I checked it out, too. Pretty art, with the backgrounds in a watercolour style, and long-legged, nicely-drawn characters that remind me of Clamp.
Kamen no Maid Guy - another off cookie's list and it's definitely crack to the max. I know the anime club would enjoy it, however, the shower scene with the nipples wouldn't be appropriate for the club. The bouncing megaboobs are fine, though - they're a trope.
Vampire Knight - another shown in the anime club and it's full of bishies. It has some interesting plot twists, too. The concept of human day school and vampire night school in the same building is interesting. What's this recent surge in vampires in high school, Japan?
Bus Gamer - yet another off cookie's list and it's only three eps. I was interested because it's by the same mangaka as Saiyuki. It's okay but doesn't answer any particular questions and the characters really don't grab you much.
Junjou Romantica - infected_wound suggested it so I initially watched it on YouTube, with some parts in raw Japanese. Now it's being fansubbed and the first ep is cute. The big old seme with his big and small teddy bears, train going around his bed and all the other toys scattered around the house is definitely a silly twist. The faces are oddly drawn in profile, though.
xxxHOLiC_Kei - decided to pick this one out myself. I remember seeing something related to this universe in anime club a few years ago. The artwork is really beautiful and stylized. I definitely need some screenshots of the cook who always seems to have a vein popping out of his forehead.
Gintama - we were watching this one as soon as the next sub was available last year, but stopped. So I saw 55 on the download list and got it. Then, after watching the first few minutes, I realized I needed 54 since it was actually a two-parter. Gintama usually stands on its own each ep so that surprised me. As always, it gently pokes at the latest anime trends and can be very crack in a good way. These two eps had our three dressing up as host club men (yes, the girl dressed like a man) and it was amusing, as always.
Not downloaded but still being watched - Saiunkoku Monogatari - I had watched the first ep for free online when it was first released about a year ago. Then a few weeks ago, the anime club showed it and I realized I wanted to follow it. All those pretty, long-haired bishies! Nice art, too. So I hunted down and purchased the first series on eBay, though I know the subtitles will probably be dreadful. It hasn't arrived yet.
Your series is Sakende Yaruze! (also known as "Shout Out Loud!"), which tells the story of Shino Hisae, a 33-year-old voice actor who looks and thinks like a 15-year-old. After his teenage son comes to live with him he vows to take any job no matter what to help pay the bill, leading to a string of roles as the uke in yaoi drama cds (a soundtrack story on cd - like tv episodes without the visual). It doesn't help that some of his colleagues - in particular Tenryuu, the "seme" he often works with - don't plan on keeping their relationship just professional... The plot is solid, the characters are fun, and the art is to die for. Cuter than a basket of puppies, this is the ultimate romantic comedy shounen-ai. It even comes with the obligatory hot springs episode! Take this quiz!
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
